Inner work and self-discovery

Inner Work and Self-Discovery

How is inner work useful? (Giandomenico)

I read your page “Discovering Ourselves”, I found it convincing, and I’m now thinking that an inner research can be beautiful. I could start it but, how will it help me then? Is it more helpful than many other things I could do?

The word “inner work” can give a sense of fatigue. Few of us feel relieved by the idea of having to work. Discovering something is much more interesting, as shown by the doubts of the reader. He would find out what is moving within him but, if he works on himself, then doubts arise. Let’s think for a moment, though: is discovering our inside world not already an inner work? Why shouldn’t we like it?

Feel better inside

From my point of view, doing something you like is helpful but could be not enough; You could do many other things you like. Why should I, from all these possibilities, choose to work inside me?

We should now consider that people can differ from each other and have different goals in their lives. If your goal is to feel better inside, the inner search can be for you; you can then evaluate which type of research suits better for you and many other things.

However, I don’t want to convince you in any direction. These are very personal decisions, which should not undergo external influence.

You can also consider responses from other researchers. Someone has already written something on this subject in the page dedicated to the introspective path. If any other reader would like to write something and enrich our conversation with feedback from their own experience, I will gladly put it on this page.
